To achieve this, we are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support the technology commercialization for our biological methanation process:

Be part of Electrochaea’s growing North American team and work together with an international and diverse team of business developers, engineers, scientists, and project managers. Collaborate with North American and European engineering colleagues and the technology development team in the maintenance and continuous development of Electrochaea’s in-house engineering documentation, models, and tools. You will report directly to the Director of Product and Commercial Development for Electrochaea Corporation in North America.

  • Aspen Hysys Process Model Management: Manage and maintain the Aspen Hysys process model and associated process design package templates
  • Engineering Documentation: Incorporate design changes and manage revision updates for in-house engineering documentation
  • Process Design Documentation: Prepare detailed project-specific process documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, schematics, heat and material balances, equipment sizing, fluid and heat transfer calculations, and equipment specifications
  • Process Control Development: Develop and review control documents, including functional requirements, control narratives, C&E matrices, RATs, and HMI screens
  • Process Safety Reviews: Participate in safety studies, such as HazOp reviews, what-if analyses, and PSV scenario reviews
  • Operations Support: Provide technical troubleshooting during project commissioning phase and early operations 
  • Project Collaboration: Work effectively with project teams to provide technical assistance in the early project development phase including proposals, requests for quotations, cost estimations, and feasibility studies
  • Customer Collaboration: Develop preliminary engineering documents for business opportunities and participate in technical discussions with customers to support business development efforts
  • Vendor Selection: Conduct technical and economic evaluations of bid packages to support vendor selection
  • EPCs: Participate and review EPC’s engineering and design activities throughout project duration including basic and detailed engineering phase as well as during procurement and construction

Your qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in process engineering in relevant industries (energy, gas, or similar)
  • Strong technical background in process design (preferably of gas and liquid systems, renewable fuels) 
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering (chemical, process, mechanical, or related field)
  • Expert-level experience with Aspen Hysys process modeling
  • Thorough knowledge of process engineering documents including PFD, M&E balance, P&ID, specification, and data sheets 
  • Understanding of North American codes such as ASME, hazardous area classification (NEC), and other relevant standards for pressure piping and explosive gases
  • Demonstration of performance in safety, health, and environmental management
  • Participation in process hazard operational reviews
  • Experience in writing operating procedures
  • Excellent communication skills with experience in collaborating with multiple audiences and multi-disciplinary teams 
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills
